Privacy policy
A score file you open here is kept on this site with its talking score, so the link keeps working. Nothing is listed publicly and nothing is shared.
Score files
A file you open here is saved with its talking score, its text and braille versions, and its playback audio. They are saved under a name made from the file itself. Only someone with the link can reach them. They are not listed on the site, and search engines are told not to list them.
Because the name comes from the file, anyone who opens the same file gets the same talking score. So someone who already has your file can reach its talking score.
Files are kept until someone deletes them by hand. Nothing is deleted automatically, so a link keeps working until old scores are cleared out.
Your file may be opened to find out why a score did not read correctly. It is not given to anyone else.
What the browser stores
Your text size, colours, playback settings and place in each score are saved in your browser, not on this site. They carry over from one score to the next on this device.
Your choices on the Options page are saved there too, so the next score starts with the same choices.
Clearing the browser's site data removes them.
Cookies
Two cookies are set, both needed for the site to work:
- csrftoken - checks that a form was sent from this site.
- messages - carries a message to the next page, such as why a file was not accepted. It is deleted once shown.
This site has no analytics and loads no scripts from other sites. Nothing here counts your visits or tracks you across sites.
Email
An email address sent to contact@davidbuik.com is used to reply and for nothing else. An enquiry may be discussed with other people or published as an example, with nothing identifying who sent it.
Security
Pages are sent over HTTPS. Each page tells your browser not to load anything from other sites. Uploads are checked for size and file type before they are read. This lowers the risk but cannot remove it: any file sent over the internet and stored online could be reached by someone who should not have it.
The code this site runs is open source and can be read on GitHub.
